The Drake Institute now offers remote treatment for ADHD, autism, and other brain-based disorders. With the help of our trained clinicians, you can get the help you need from the comfort of your home.
Learn More >>We are pleased to announce that we now provide remote, in-home brain map-guided neurofeedback treatment to our patients with ADHD, Autism, and Stress illnesses/disorders.
As a result of advancements in technology, we can now administer at-home treatment for our patients in California who live more than 30 miles from either our Irvine or West Los Angeles clinics. With this advancement, we are now treating patients from Central and Northern California as well.
To administer remote treatments, we lend the brain mapping-neurofeedback instruments to the patient's family and carry out the treatment sessions online through "log me in" (similar to Zoom or TeamViewer).
Our technicians run the treatment sessions and make ongoing threshold adjustments during the session based on how our patient is progressing, just like they do during in-clinic treatment. Our Medical Director develops individualized protocols for each remote treatment patient, just like he would for in-person patients. The hook-up is user-friendly, and we will guide you through this easy process.
There are several distinct advantages to doing the treatments from the comfort of your own home:
In sum, our remotely administered ADHD and autism treatment takes much less time out of one's day, while still allowing our patients to significantly reduce or even eliminate symptoms.
For our remote treatment patients, our program coordinators continue to meet with the parents or adult patients themselves regularly for support and guidance.

The Drake Institute is a world-class ADHD treatment center founded in 1980. We are a clinical pioneer in ADHD treatment without medication, and we've helped thousands of patients reduce their ADHD symptoms.
In fact, in most cases, our ADHD treatment options do not require stimulants or pharmaceutical drugs of any kind, instead relying on the safe and clinically effective technologies of brain map-guided Neurofeedback, and Neuromodulation treatment.
Utilizing the latest developments in qEEG brain mapping, neurofeedback, and neurostimulation technology, our non-drug ADHD treatment protocols enable patients to improve brain functioning and reduce symptoms faster and more effectively than ever before without the use of conventional pharmaceutical drugs.
In addition, our neurofeedback treatment process can produce long-term improvement for our patients, unlike the temporary improvement offered by drug-based treatment. With drug-based treatments, once the medication wears off, the brain is likely to default back to the abnormal dysregulation that causes ADHD symptoms.

“David F. Velkoff, M.D., our Medical Director and co-founder, supervises all evaluation procedures and treatment programs. He is recognized as a physician pioneer in using biofeedback, qEEG brain mapping, neurofeedback, and neuromodulation in the treatment of ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and stress related illnesses including anxiety, depression, insomnia, and high blood pressure. Dr. David Velkoff earned his Master’s degree in Psychology from the California State University at Los Angeles in 1975, and his Doctor of Medicine degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta in 1976. This was followed by Dr. Velkoff completing his internship in Obstetrics and Gynecology with an elective in Neurology at the University of California Medical Center in Irvine. He then shifted his specialty to Neurophysical Medicine and received his initial training in biofeedback/neurofeedback in Neurophysical Medicine from the leading doctors in the world in biofeedback at the renown Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas. In 1980, he co-founded the Drake Institute of Neurophysical Medicine. Seeking to better understand the link between illness and the mind, Dr. Velkoff served as the clinical director of an international research study on psychoneuroimmunology with the UCLA School of Medicine, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, and the Pasteur Institute in Paris. This was a follow-up study to an earlier clinical collaborative effort with UCLA School of Medicine demonstrating how the Drake Institute's stress treatment resulted in improved immune functioning of natural killer cell activity. Dr. Velkoff served as one of the founding associate editors of the scientific publication, Journal of Neurotherapy. He has been an invited guest lecturer at Los Angeles Children's Hospital, UCLA, Cedars Sinai Medical Center-Thalians Mental Health Center, St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, California, and CHADD. He has been a medical consultant in Neurophysical Medicine to CNN, National Geographic Channel, Discovery Channel, Univision, and PBS.”
